Your alcohol-server certificate isn’t a “set-it-and-forget-it” license. Most states require renewal every 2 to 4 years. Missing the deadline can void Safe-Harbor protections and expose you and your employer to fines or job loss.
Already certified through TIPS, ServSafe®, or another provider? You can still renew here. State regulators accept our certificate even if your original training came from somewhere else.
Your certificate expiring soon? Renew in one sitting—starting at $9 and 100% online.

Renewal FAQ
Can I renew before my card expires?
Yes. Most states let you renew up to 60 days early; any unused validity rolls over.
What if I missed the deadline?
You must stop serving alcohol immediately and retake the state-approved course. Your new certificate resets the validity period.
Do I have to renew with the same provider?
No. You can renew with SSC even if your original certification was from another company—your new SSC certificate is equally valid.
