Learn the regulations covering minors and alcohol Sales, intoxicated people and liquor service, LATC Laws, Rules & Regulations. This course consists of 5 modules outlined below:
Module 1: Louisiana ATC Responsible Vendor Training Overview
After completing this module, you will be able to do the following:
- Correctly define terms relating to the sale or serving of alcohol, tobacco and tobacco products in the state of Louisiana.
- Describe the purpose, goals, and rules for Responsible Vendor training and certification.
- State the intent of Louisiana laws relating to alcohol sales to intoxicated persons, and the legal age to purchase alcohol, tobacco or tobacco products.
Module 2: Alcohol and Its Effect on the Human Body, Drinking and Driving
After completing this module, you will be able to do the following:
- Describe what alcohol is and how it affects every organ in the body.
- Describe how alcohol and drugs can impair your ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Describe Louisiana laws regarding driving while intoxicated.
- Define blood alcohol concentration (BAC) and list factors that affect BAC in individuals., and
- Describe other factors related to intoxication including alcohol absorption, metabolization and elimination.
Module 3: Minors and Alcohol Sales
After completing this module, you will be able to do the following:
- Determine whether a sale of alcohol is legal or illegal with regards to a minor or intoxicated person in any given situations.
- Use observations to detect when a minor or intoxicated person is attempting to purchase alcohol.
- Correctly identify whether an ID is valid and proper for purposes of establishing age, and
- Determine appropriate intervention techniques with regards to a minor or intoxicated person attempting to purchase alcohol in a variety of situations.
Module 4: Intoxicated Persons and Alcohol Sales
After completing this module, you will be able to do the following:
- Describe how seller-servers may be responsible for the acts of their customers (Dram Shop Law).
- Determine whether a sale of alcohol is legal or illegal with regards to an intoxicated person in a variety of different situations.
- Define other causes of intoxication and how to recognize the signs and symptoms of alcohol poisoning.
- Use observation methods to detect signs of intoxication, and
- Apply appropriate intervention techniques for preventing sales to intoxicated persons in a variety of circumstances.
Module 5 - State Laws & Regulations
After completing this module, you will be able to do the following:
- Describe the State of Louisiana laws and regulations regarding alcohol
- Describe parishes and municipalities additional ordinances regarding the sale, service and consumption of alcohol.
- Define the State laws and regulations regarding tobacco products and minors.
- Describe how tobacco effects your body
- Define the laws and regulations in regards to tobacco sales requirements for signage & vending machines
- Describe the prohibited acts in regards to tobacco
- Define the laws and regulations that govern the Louisiana Lottery
