After completing this module, you will be able to do the following:

  • Describe the purpose, goals, and rules for seller-server training and certification.
  • State the intent of laws concerned with preventing alcohol sales to minors and intoxicated persons.

    
Module 2: The Impact of Alcohol on the Body
After completing this module, you will be able to do the following:

  • Recognize the potential signs of intoxication.
  • Describe the effects of alcohol on the human body.
  • Define Blood Alcohol Concentration.
  • Discuss the factors that can affect the severity of intoxication.   


Module 3: Preventing Underage Sales
After completing this module, you will be able to do the following:

  • Determine whether a sale of alcohol is legal or illegal with regards to a minor in a variety of different situations.
  • Use observations to detect when a minor is attempting to purchase alcohol.
  • Correctly identify if an ID is valid and proper for purposes of establishing age.
  • Select appropriate intervention techniques when a minor attempts to purchase alcohol.


Module 4: Preventing Sales to Intoxicated Persons
After completing this module, you will be able to do the following:

  • Understand the Hours of Operation for Establishments serving or selling alcohol.
  • Describe how seller-servers are responsible for the acts of their customers (Dram Shop Laws).
  • Determine whether a sale of alcohol is legal or illegal with regards to an intoxicated person in a variety of different situations.
  • Define blood alcohol concentration (BAC) and list factors that affect BAC in individuals.
  • Use observations to detect if a person is intoxicated.
  • Explain strategies on how to refuse service to an intoxicated person when necessary.
