Lip gloss has been a staple in your makeup case forever, but this year gloss is moving on up – to the eyes! That’s right. According to Harper’s Bazaar, glossly eyelids have made the leap from editorial photoshoots and catwalks to mainstreet.
Eye gloss is typically shinier than traditional lip gloss, and applying it can certainly take some getting used to. But the good news is, the rules for how you wear eye gloss are pretty much non-existent. You can apply it to just the lids, or above the crease, or even under the eye to create a smoky, smudgy effect, if you feel so inclined. Some trendy makeup artists are mixing and matching lipsticks with eye glosses and top coats to create stunning new looks. Consider it an invitation to create outside your comfort zone.
Like most cosmetics, there is a price point for everyone. A quick internet search revealed a tub of Nyx Cosmetics Lid Lacquer selling for just $6.99 at Ulta, to The Exotique Diamond Eye Gloss by Kevyn Aucoin Beauty, which sells for $38.00 at Nordstrom’s.
